Every kind of roofing work, from one team
Most roof problems come down to a handful of causes: tiles that have slipped, mortar that has crumbled, lead that has lifted, a flat roof that has reached the end of its life or gutters that have given up. The ten services below cover the roofing work we are asked for most around Bromley, from a single repair to new roofing for the whole house.
Whichever you need, the approach is the same. We look at the roof properly, explain what we have found, and give you the most economical way to put it right, with a free quote.
Roof repairs in Bromley
A damp patch on the ceiling, tiles in the front garden or water coming in after heavy rain: the sooner a roof is looked at, the smaller the repair usually is. Level Roofing repairs pitched and flat roofs of every kind across Bromley, from a few slipped tiles to storm damage that means stripping and rebuilding part of the roof.
We always try to repair before we suggest replacing, and we give you the most economical way to put the problem right first. We will never recommend work you do not need. We never charge a call-out fee.
On one recent repair a leaking roof was stripped back, rotten timbers were replaced and the roof was re-boarded, with new fascias and guttering fitted at the same time, so the whole roof was watertight again.

New roofs and re-roofing in Bromley
When a roof is past repairing, a new one protects the house for decades. Level Roofing strips old roofs back to the rafters, replaces any rotten timber and lays new membrane, battens and tiles or slates. We also build roofs for new-build houses, extensions and garages.
Stripping a roof often shows up problems nobody could see from outside. On a recent pitched roof replacement in Bromley the team found rotten rafters at the back of the house and a shared chimney that a previous builder had left without proper support. Both were put right before the new tiles went on.
If you are not sure which roof suits your home, we will come and look at it and talk you through the options, with a free, no-obligation quote.

Tiled roofs in concrete and clay
Tiles are the most common roof covering on houses around Bromley, and for good reason: they are hard-wearing, need little maintenance and stand up well to the British weather. We install new tiled roofs and repair existing ones in concrete and clay tiles, to suit the design, colour and budget you have in mind.
On the Bromley roof replacement we used Marley Ludlow Plus interlocking tiles in Old English Dark Red, which give a traditional look with the practical benefits of a modern interlocking tile. The hips were set on hip irons and finished with small plain tiles at the front, and the valleys were formed in GRP.

Slate roofs: natural and fibre cement
Slate has been used on British roofs for centuries, for its looks and its durability. Level Roofing installs and repairs slate roofs in natural slate and fibre cement slate, from replacing a few broken slates to stripping and re-slating a whole roof.
Slate is fire-resistant and very hard-wearing, and a well-laid natural slate roof can last for generations. Fibre cement slate gives a similar look for less. We will explain the difference when we visit and help you choose the right one for your home.

Flat roofs in EPDM, felt and GRP fibreglass
Flat roofs cover many of Bromley’s extensions, garages, dormers and bay windows, and when they fail it is usually at the joins and edges. We repair and replace flat roofs in EPDM rubber, felt and GRP fibreglass, and recommend the right system for the size and use of your roof.
On a flat roof in Orpington the old felt was leaking, so the team tore it off, re-boarded the deck in tongue-and-groove OSB and finished it in GRP fibreglass, leaving a completely watertight roof.

Roofs for extensions, garages and outbuildings
Whether you are building an extension or the roof on an existing one has started to leak, we install and repair extension roofs in tile, slate and flat roofing. We handle everything from the preparation and timbers to the fascias, soffits and guttering.
On one extension a failed rubber roof had let water in and rotted the deck around two roof lanterns. The team stripped it back to the rafters, laid new tongue-and-groove OSB boarding, then applied two base coats and a dark grey top coat of Sikalastic liquid waterproofing, with new GRP trims all round.

Velux roof windows
A roof window is one of the simplest ways to bring daylight into a loft room, landing or extension. Our team installs, repairs and replaces Velux roof windows, in a choice of sizes, styles and glazing.
Fitting a roof window is as much a roofing job as a glazing one: the tiles or slates around it, the flashing and the membrane all have to be right to keep it watertight for years.

Chimney repairs and rebuilds
Chimneys take the full force of the weather, and crumbling mortar, loose pots and cracked flashing let water into the rooms below. We repoint, repair and rebuild chimney stacks, fit new chimney pots and renew the lead flashing around them.
On the Bromley roof replacement a previous contractor had removed a chimney breast inside the house without properly supporting the stack above. After talking it through with the neighbours, our team took the shared chimney down and rebuilt it securely, fitted a new wall plate where the breast had been removed, and rendered and weatherproofed both sides.

Fascias, soffits and guttering
Fascia boards carry the bottom row of tiles and the gutters, and soffits ventilate the roof space, so when either rots or breaks the damage can spread into the roof. We repair gutter leaks on every style of gutter, including uPVC, and repair or replace fascias, soffits and guttering.
We always try to repair rather than replace. On one fascia repair the team saved the existing fascia and rebuilt the guttering so rainwater ran off and down the wall properly, leaving the roof edge watertight. No job is too small. We never charge a call-out fee.

Lead flashing and leadwork
Lead flashing matters as much as the tiles and slates. It weatherproofs the joins, edges and valleys of a roof: around the chimney stack, along any wall the roof meets, in valleys and box gutters. When it lifts, cracks or comes away, water gets straight in.
Lead resists corrosion and ages well, which is why it is still used today. Our roofers fit new lead flashing and repair existing leadwork, whether on its own or as part of a repair or a new roof.
